Local
Winery Unveils New Finger Lakes Wine
(GENESEO,
NY - November 9, 2006) Deer Run Winery on Conesus Lake
has recently unveiled its newest wine. Named "Max Black"
in honor of the winemakers Scottish Terrier Max, the new wine
will assuredly appeal to those with a sweet tooth. According to
George Kuyon, owner and winemaker his newest vintage is "a
sweet, fruity and fun red wine." The wine is a blend of the
Vincent and Niagara grape grown locally in our Finger Lakes Viticulture
Region. In addition to the unveiling of their new "Max Black"
Deer Run Winery has also released their 2004 Traminette, a previous
bronze and silver medal winner and their 2004 Seyval.

Deer Run Winery
along with Eagle Crest Vineyard in Conesus form "The Little
Finger Lakes Wine Path." Eagle Crest Vineyards has been in
continual operation since 1872 and was established by Bishop McQuaid
from Rochester for production of sacramental wines and is still
today one of the largest producers of altar wines in the United
States.. Deer Run Winery is a baby in comparison to Eagle Crest,
having begun operation in 2002. It has grown remarkably in its
infancy and has established itself as one of the up and coming
wineries in the Finger Lakes having won the prestigious Silver
Medal at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition in April
for the 2003 Traminette.
"Our
Livingston County wineries are a source of great pride for our
community," notes Lisa Burns, Livingston County Tourism Director,
"they have established themselves firmly as high quality
wine producers and in a region that is vastly becoming internationally
recognized for its wine and culinary virtues; this is no small
accomplishment. Our county's place within the Finger Lakes Vacation
Region of New York State continues to benefit greatly due to our
wineries and our culinary attributes."
