(GENESEO, NY - October 1, 2006) The 2006 Livingston County Visitors Guide was recognized and honored with the third place award by the I Love New York State Division of Tourism at the Governor's Tourism Conference held in Rochester. This award marks the first time that the county visitor's guide has been honored. "Placing third out of 62 county submissions is certainly something to be proud of" states Lisa Burns, Tourism Director for the county, "our county is a natural gem and our guide captures our beauty in vivid colors."
The I Love New York Visitors Guide award recognizes publications that most effectively promote counties as travel destinations. The judging criteria includes visual impact, editorial content, layout, quality of illustrations and photos and the ease of finding information.
The state also recognizes the graphic designer responsible for the layout of the guide. Kat Nichols of Nichols Graphic Design, Lakeville attended the Governor's Award Ceremony along with Ms. Burns to accept the honor. Adrian "Bud" Prince and Bob Oswald were the two volunteer photographers whose photos capture the beauty of the county and are featured prominently in the 2006 guide.
The Livingston County Visitors Guide is produced annually. The 2007 Visitors Guide is currently in production with 100,000 copies slated to be printed. It will be available in February of 2007 and also for the first time, the visitors guide will be available to download on the Livingston County Tourism website, www.FingerLakesWest.com
