IN OUR OWN BACKYARD

The Three Westernmost Finger Lakes:

1. Conesus Lake
- Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, Walleyes, Northern Pike Tiger Muskies, panfish. Guide #1, pp.. 104-108 (or Guide #2, pp. 184-189).

2. Hemlock Lake -Trout & Atlantic Salmon, Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, Chain Pickerel, Walleyes, panfish. A principal source of water for Rochester, there is almost no development surrounding this pristine lake virtually in a wilderness setting. Guide #1, pp. 108-111 (or Guide #2, pp. 190-193).

3. Canadice Lake - Trout, Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, Chain Pickerel, panfish. Canadice is Hemlock's "little sister" also in a virtual wilderness setting. Guide #2, pp. 162-165.

SELECTED IMPORTANT ANGLING RIVERS & STREAMS (also in our own backyard):

4. The Upper Genesee River: Mt. Morris Dam to PA State line. Trout, Bass & much more. Guide #1, pp. 4-8.

5. The Lower Genesee River: Mt. Morris Dam to Lake Ontario. Chinook & Coho Salmon, Trout, Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, Walleyes, Northern Pike, panfish & more. Guide #1, pp. 113-116.

6. Spring Creek: Abundant, wary wild Trout. Spring Creek (a.k.a. Spring Brook) is the source of water for the Caledonia Fish Hatchery. A very clear limestone stream; special regulations. Guide #1, pp. 101-102.

7. Sugar Creek: Trout. Gravel bottom, excellent water quality, fishable all season. Guide #1, pp. 102.

8. Keuka Lake:
Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, Atlantic Salmon, Trout, Chain Pickerel & others. Guide #2, pp. 200-207.

9. Lake Ontario: Often very large Chinook, Coho & some Atlantic Salmon, Steelhead & other Trout, Smallmouth Bass & others. Guide #2, pp. 268-310.

10. Catherine Creek: Late fall/early winter (also early spring) spawning runs of Seneca Lake Rainbow Trout. Guide #2, pp. 94-96.

11. Wiscoy Creek: Wild & stocked Brown Trout. One of New York's finest trout streams. Fed by cold springs, season-long fishing. Guide #1, pp. 156-161.

12. East Coy Creek: Brook & Brown Trout, Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, one of western New York's best trout streams. Guide #1, pp. 149-154.
