Mount Morris Dam

mmdamThe US Army Corps of Engineers built the Mount Morris Dam in the late 1940s to prevent flooding on the lower Genesee River. Today, the dam continues to provide flood protection along 67 miles of the Genesee River Valley from the village of Mount Morris to downtown Rochester where the river enters Lake Ontario.

In addition to public tours of the dam and school programs, the Visitor Center at Mount Morris Dam offers opportunities for everyone to engage and explore. If you want to get outdoors, this is the place for you! For hiking and biking, the Letchworth Branch of the Finger Lakes Trail passes right through the project and continues 25 miles to Portageville, NY.

After a tour of the dam, school program, hike, or bike relax in one of our picnic shelters and let the kids burn some more energy on the playground. Visit our website or call 585-658-4790 to learn more about tour schedules, programs, and recreational opportunities.
